While I'm linking to racy videos for the first and probably last time, here's the video NBC refused to air for PETA. I doubt PETA actually had the money to put it on the air during the Superbowl. They probably got it banned on purpose for the much cheaper web views.
Of course, PETA has a long, weird and often ugly history of using sex to get attention.
Finally, lingerie models rubbing pumpkins makes both the women and the vegetables kind of unappealing. (And I say this as a strict vegetarian.)

Um ... you probably don't need to see this, but here's a trailer for the porn parody of The Office. Not sure if there's an actual movie behind this or not. Also, don't want to know. I don't think The Office lends itself to this sort of thing as easily as Friends or The XXX Files.

Change is Gonna Come
Obama just became President Obama and Cheney was just wheeled away and ... is it really happening? The Bush era is over?
I look at this day through the eyes of my kids (8 and 6) who have just seen the inauguration at school. When I was a kid I probably had a dozen or so conversations around the question "Could America ever elect a black president?"
Our answers were all wrong. "Never." "There will be a black vice-president first." "Yes, but it will be a Republican."
The country my kids grow up in has already had a black president. But Obama is so much more than the first African-American President and my kids know that too. Politics are finally happy for them. They knew about the war and John Kerry and saw me react to the loss. Around town for the past couple years everyone recognizes my car as the one with the Ned Lamont bumper sticker. Even though 2006 was a good year, my kids were only familiar with Ned Lamont and that was a loss. I eventually replaced the Lamont bumper sticker with an Obama one and the kids knew it was anti-war. "Remember this one," I told them the other day. "When you're old, you're going to want to tell your kids about this one."

Barack Obama, Reader-in-Chief. (via to wit) Mrs. BoneDaddy recently finished Marilynne Robinson's Gilead, recently read by the President Elect, and seemed to like it.

Big Game Coming
The UConn Women, ranked #1, face off against North Carolina tonight at 7 on ESPN2 in the annual MLK day game. A good chance to see the Huskies if you haven't yet.
Unfortunately for UConn, which had been cruising all season, they have lost freshman starter Caroline Doty for the season to the dreaded ACL tear. Not too long ago, UConn had arguably the greatest freshman class. Elena Delle Donne, perhaps the most touted recruit in women's basketball history, lost her passion for the game and is currently playing volleyball. Heather Buck caught mono and has redshirted the season and now Doty's injury leaves Tiffany Hayes as the lone representative of the class.
Deep, UConn is not. But they do have the best guard in Renee Montgomery, the best center in Tina Charles and the best player in Maya Moore.
UConn dismantled its last real challenges in Oklahoma and LSU, but North Carolina is far better than them. They're a deep and fast team playing at home. That said, UConn has more experiece to draw on and the one player in Moore who can single-handedly win a game for you. If you're not in NC, it should be fun to watch on TV, especially if you're sick in bed like yours truly.

Outage? Update: Back in Business.
I'm not sure why we're not publishing at the moment. Nothing's changed that I know of on our end, so I'm hoping it'll work itself out shortly.
... And it did. A few posts that've been languishing in limbo below.

Top 6 Most Played Songs on My iPod
- "Save it for Later," English Beat (28)
- "Beat Surrender," the Jam (27) - My kids love this song. I'm afraid the "bullshit is bullshit, it just goes by different names" line is going to be a problem soon.
- "Someday I Suppose," the Mighty, Mighty Bosstones (27)
- "Come on Eileen," Dexy's Midnight Runners (26)
- "I Confess," English Beat (25)
- "Last Nite," the Strokes (23)
Not exactly a 2008 list since some of these songs have been on the 'pod since I got it a couple years ago.
